Circa-1890 Maple Ave. House Getting Addition, Renovations

Will become new main headquarters for Hampshire Real Estate Companies.

If one took a snapshot of Maple Avenue closest to Market Street a few years ago and today, they may ask if they're looking at the same place.

14 Maple went up several years ago as part of the Epstein's Redevelopment Area, which includes the DeHart Street Parking Garage and 40 Park. Across the street, what was long a parking lot is well underway to becoming Morristown's latest luxury townhouse development.

And, a literal stone's throw from that project, another property is undergoing a transformation.

By the end of January, the Circa 1890 house at 22 Maple Ave. and a brand new 7,000-square-foot addition will become the new main headquarters for Hampshire Real Estate Companies, which is presently located at 15 Maple Ave. and 83 South St., next to the Morristown and Morris Township Library.

Bob Mureski, vice president of construction for Hampshire, said the project has consisted building the addition, as well as getting the over 120-year-old house back into "as original a condition" as possible, he said. The entire project will consist of approximately 13,000 square feet of space, Mureski said.

The plan currently is for 22 Maple Ave. to serve as the company's main headquarters. They also would remain at 83 South St., but Mureski could not confirm whether they would be moving out of their 15 Maple Ave. location.

Two apartments also will be located on the site, one in the new section and another that had been on the top floor of the original property but has been empty for some time. Those would become available for rent at the same time Hampshire expects to move in early next year, Mureski said.
