Late Game Heroics Lift Team America to NIS Softball Title

Softball championships that feature come-from-behind wins are starting to become commonplace for No Idea Sports

Another softball championship, another game that goes down to the last few outs. That's certainly become the theme for the past 2 No Idea Sports softball championships. Last season's champs came from behind in the last inning to take the title over the Rockford Peaches.

Coming into this season with a new name, Team America (formerly the Rockford Peaches) stood atop the leaderboard for the entire season, with a 5-0-1 record. Their opponents for this season's final wasn't Pitch Slap, but the Beautiful People's Club. BPC's only blemish on the season was a 15-9 loss to Team America 3 weeks ago.

With revenge on their mind, BPC jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 1st, and added 3 more runs in the second. By the third inning, the score was much closer, with BPC holding a slight lead over the short-handed Team America, 5-4. BPC scored 2 more runs in the 4th and held Team America to 0 runs to increase their lead to 3.

Team America tied up the game at 7 in the 5th by scoring 3 runs and holding the BPC to 0. With just 2 innings left to play, things got interesting in the 6th as the visiting BPC scored 1 run to go up 8-7. Team America answered with a 2-run homer which would prove to be the game winning runs.

The Beautiful People's Club couldn't respond offensively in the top of the 7th, making Team America the newest softball champs.
