No Idea Indoor Soccer Champs Repeat Outdoors

The 2 teams met earlier in the season in a high scoring game, but would the result be the same in the championship?

After a week-long delay to crown a new outdoor soccer champion, the 2 teams in the final got their chance to play Monday night at Delbarton. Bring Me the Horizon and Run Roney Run sat as the third and fourth best teams in the league, respectively, but each went on a hot streak during the playoffs.

Bring Me the Horizon easily defeated Butt Hair, 11-0, in the quarterfinals and upset #2 seed, Purple Cobras, 4-1, in the semis. Run Roney Run had a similar path to the final, defeating winless Unbeataballz, 3-1, in the quarterfinals, and shutting out top-seeded Motown, 3-0, in the semifinals, setting up a meeting with Bring Me the Horizon in the finals. The teams met earlier in the season, with Bring Me the Horizon coming out on top, 7-5.

In the final, Bring Me the Horizon struck first, scoring with 8:44 left in the first half to go up 1-0. Run Roney Run was looking to add an outdoor soccer title to the indoor soccer title they already have, so it didn’t take them long to answer, tying the score up a little over 2 minutes later. With 2 minutes before halftime, Run Roney Run took the lead, 2-1. After a short halftime recharge, it was all Run Roney Run in the second half as they scored 3 unanswered goals in 13 minutes to go up 5-1. It looked as though Bring Me the Horizon would try and mount a comeback as they scored another goal with under 3 minutes left, but Run Roney Run’s insurance goal with 18 seconds left locked up the championship for the team made up of high school friends from Kittatinny High School and High Point High School.
