There were a few similarities between the 2 teams who played for No Idea Sports' Tuesday night kickball title. Each team sported neon team shirts, had identical 5-0 records, and almost scored the same amount of runs this season (46 for the Colonials; 45 for Ball Tappers).
So who would kick their way to a 6-0 record and who would finish the season with 1 blemish?
In the bottom of the first inning, the Colonials jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but the Ball Tappers answered at their next at bat, taking a 2-1 lead. With the home-team Colonials up to bat in the bottom of the second, it looked as though it was going to be a back-and-forth game with the Colonials scoring 1 more run to go up 3-2.
Thanks to some stellar defense, the Colonials held the Ball Tappers to a scoreless third inning. Unfortunately for the Ball Tappers, the Colonials went on a hot streak, scoring 4 runs in the third inning to go up 7-2.
Even though they would go on to score 3 more runs, the 4-run third inning would be all the Colonials would need as they went on to win the championship, 10-2.
Congratulations to the Colonials on their victory and to Ball Tappers on a fun and well-played championship game! Thanks to all of our other teams: See You Next Tuesday, The Bases Might Not Be Loaded But We Are, We'll Kick Your Balls, Sit on My Base, Kickin' Balls Deep, and 99 Problems!
