Run Roney Run Wins Close No Idea Sports Soccer Championship

Sitting in the middle of the No Idea Sports soccer standings was not a problem for Run Roney Run because as everyone knows, it's not where you start (or where you are when the playoffs begin); it's where you finish.

In the championship game, the top-seeded Red Dragons would face off against Run Roney Run, the only team who beat them during the regular season. 

The game got off to a good start defensively for both teams, as both Red Dragon and Run Roney Run’s goalies each made great saves. Seven minutes into the first half, the Red Dragons got on the board, 1-0. A little over a minute later, Run Roney Run tied up the score, 1-1. With 5 saves—4 from Run Roney Run and 1 from the Red Dragons—happening just minutes before halftime, it looked as though the teams would go to the break tied. But, Run Roney Run took the lead with just 2 minutes to play in the half, 2-1. 

Just like the start of the first half, more great saves started the second half, with the Red Dragons’ goalie making 2 and Run Roney Run’s goalie making 1. With such a tight score, the game was intense with any move being a potential game changer. Almost 9 minutes in to the second half, Run Roney Run scored to go up 3-1, with plenty of time to play. With a few minutes left on the clock, Run Roney Run could have opened their lead, but their shot hit the post. It didn’t matter though as they won the championship, 3-1.
