Good Things Come in Small Packages

Last month, I posted the exciting news about the publication of my novella, The Clothes Line, the fourth in a series about bullying. What I neglected to mention was that there is a little "treat" at the end of the 80+ page story which quickly rose to the best-seller list in religion on Amazon: a song.

This song, You're Pretty Good at Lying, was written by Katie G. who also happens to be my niece. Kaitlyn Gallagher was born and raised in Morristown. At 12 years of age, you might think "Isn't that sweet!"

Boy, is that an understatement!

Katie G. has already performed twice in Morristown's Got Talent. She sings with her band, The Originals (Riley Cocchi, Steve Hawthorne, Jordan Green, and Chris DeCheser) at Anthony's Pizza in Morristown at Open Mic Night on Thursdays. When other kids her age are going to the shore or playing with friends at the town pool, she is working at the Original Music School (OMS) in Morristown. Like the rest of her band, Katie spends her days writing songs, practicing guitar, taking singing lessons, and (occasionally) goofing around with her fellow band mates.

And hard work has paid off!

This little firecracker has made her way into a national contest, one of ten talented young ladies competing in Tween Style Girl Magazine's Share Your Talent 2013 Contest.

I wanted to share this news with everyone in Morristown. I'm so proud of Katie, Riley, Steve, Jordan, and Chris. These young people in Morristown deserve our support. They know what it takes to succeed and follow their dreams. These aspiring entertainers choose hard work before play. They each have such a passion, a very rare passion at such a young age. And, like I said in the title of this post...you watch the contest entry (Kaitlyn #2 in the link below) and decide for yourself whether or not it's true that good things come in small packages.

Hmmmm...no. GREAT things come in this small little package called Katie G and the Originals!
