The Morristown Neighborhood House eighth-annual Black History Month Celebratory event will be held Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Morristown High School in Morristown. The theme for this year’s celebration is: “Black Women in American History and Culture; past, present and future.” The Celebration will feature foods that are representatives of African-based cultures, live music and entertainment for people of all ages.
The Black History celebratory event has proven to be an effective tool for spurring cross-cultural communication. People from diverse backgrounds help plan the event and the participation is extremely diverse. Typically, more than 100 individuals attend our heritage events.
The keynote speaker for this year’s celebration is Evelin Potts, vice president of diversity and inclusion, Wyndham Worldwide. An essay contest featuring the top four finalists at the middle and high school levels will be announced and prizes awarded.
