In the Aftermath of the Storm: Report from Tornado Survivors and Activists from Cordova, Alabama

Around 5:00 AM of April 27, the small town of Cordova, Alabama, was struck by an EF3 tornado. Around 4:00 PM, it was struck again by a 3/4 mile-wide EF4 tornado which devastated the town.

The week of August 7th, Temple B’nai Or sent a mission to help the citizens of Cordova rebuild their homes and their lives. There they met Andrea Pate – the dynamic woman who created the survivors’ soup kitchen and is rebuilding homes. We also met Tammy Barger and her family who embraced us, fed us, and inspired us. Tammy and Andrea will share their stories while Rabbi Rossoff and Temple members will share videos and pictures of their experiences and tell stories of the courageous and inspiring people of Cordova.
