NEW! Alfred Vail and the Natural World

Curiosity about the natural world was very popular during the 19th century.  In fact, Alfred Vail has such an interest in the natural world that he inventoried all the trees on his father’s property.   Join us as we explore Historic Speedwell, using the same texts as Alfred Vail.  We will examine different trees catalogued here in 1850, talk about how people living over a century ago attempted to make landscaping and architecture complement one another and practice designing an authentic historic flower garden for the Vail House.
