The Red Oaks School Holiday Boutique

December 1st through the 3rd, the gym at The Red Oaks School will be transformed into an international bazaar filled with fair trade products from around the globe. Amidst soap stone carvings, made in Kenya, and jewelry, hand made by Darfur refugees, students will engage in real world learning through the marketing and sales of a variety of fair trade products. Consistent with Red Oak's 'inch-wide, mile-deep' approach to education, the Holiday Boutique—one of the school's most popular annual fundraisers—is an opportunity to teach students concepts related to globalization and fair trade. The Holiday Boutique is an interdisciplinary, experiential learning opportunity that brings together the entire Red Oaks community around a festive, fundraising event. Additionally, members from surrounding communities are invited to shop at the Boutique Wednesday through Friday from 3:00 PM through 7:00 PM, and Thursday night until 9:00 PM. Items for sale include jewelry, hand made baskets, scarves, and a wide variety of children's toys and games just to name a few.
