FDU Postpones Classes, Move-In Due to Irene

Campus open Saturday for move-in, but school suggests holding off

Fairleigh Dickinson University will postpone its fall move-in schedule and the start of classes because of Hurricane Irene.

The school said the move was made " in light of the approaching hurricane and concern for the safety of our students, faculty and staff."

The start of fall semester classes is now Wednesday, Aug. 31. Classes will follow the normal Wednesday schedule.

The school will allow students to move in on the previously scheduled Saturday, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m, but it strongly discourages using that date. Instead, it's asking freshmen and transfer students to move in Monday beginning at 10 a.m, and returning students to move in Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m.

The school will not be open for move-in on Sunday.
