Frelinghuysen Students Celebrate Arbor Day With Cherry Tree Planting

Middle School teams up with utility provider JCP&L on Arbor Day.

In conjunction with area utility provider Jersey Central Power & Light, students at Frelinghuysen Middle School celebrated Arbor Day by planting ornamental cherry trees on their campus.

About a dozen students from the Morristown school joined representatives from JCP&L to plant the tree, which will grow to about 25-feet tall. The utility provider donated the tree and worked with the school to choose an ideal location to plant it.

“We are proud to join with local schools to support the mission of the Arbor Day Foundation, which is to plant, nurture and celebrate trees,” said Jim Fakult, President of JCP&L in a statement. “Events like these support our long-standing commitment to promote excellence in tree care, training and public education.”
