While open since August, the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newest Morristown branch of the College College of Morris was held recently at the location, on Schuyler Place.

The County College of Morris (CCM) Board of Trustees hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house at , location on Friday, Jan. 27.
Consisting of more than 5,000 square feet of classroom and administrative office space, the new location features six high-tech classrooms, including two computer labs.
Provided by the Morris County Board of Freeholders, the facility has resulted in significant cost savings for the college. “We are grateful to the Freeholders for providing this space and for the outstanding renovations, “said CCM President Edward J. Yaw. “We have received wonderful feedback from students and faculty about this facility.”
CCM Trustee Chair Jeffrey M. Advokat told the open house guests, “This is a win-win-win opportunity. This is a win for CCM, a win for the Freeholders and a win for the county.”
Morris County Freeholder Margaret Nordstrom, who serves as a Freeholder liaison to the CCM board, said (the Freeholders) “are pleased with this creative effort, which is good for the college and for the taxpayers.”
The ribbon cutting was attended by college and Morris County officials. Following the ceremony, the local business community was invited to an open house to tour the facility.

CCM has had a presence in Morristown since 1992. Its first location was in the Headquarters Plaza office complex. In 2011, the college moved its Morristown location to the second floor of the Morris County Administration Annex Building at 30 Schuyler Place. The new facility, located in Suite 220, opened for academic classes and community programs on Aug. 30, 2011.
Each of the classrooms includes permanently installed audio-visual technology consisting of an overhead LCD projector, screen, ceiling-mounted speakers and wall-mounted remote controls. The classroom also contains a high-tech instructor-presentation lectern with a computer and the latest software, a 20-inch monitor, a DVD player and a CD burner. Internet access and an ELMO visualizer/document camera that allows teachers and students to display and project objects are also provided.
The new vision and focus of CCM–Morristown/Schuyler Place is to provide the Morristown area with greater access to higher education courses and professional development training in the areas of information technology, health care, business and English proficiency.
The college also plans to forge more partnerships with the county, municipal officials, businesses and cultural communities in the area. The Morristown chapter of SCORE has already partnered with CCM to provide affordable one-on-one business coaching, workshops and training sessions, along with support for entrepreneurs to assist them with growing their businesses.
