Speedwell Lake Research Earns Students Grant

Red Oaks Middle School students collected data on the lake, presenting findings to public and the Whippany River Watershed Action Committee.

The Red Oaks Middle School is a recipient of a William E. Simon Foundation grant after presenting their research observations of Speedwell Lake to citizens and members of the Whippany River Watershed Action Committee on Feb. 6.

The students studied water quality, flora and fauna of the lake under the leadership of science teacher Liz Murphy. In April, the students will also participate in a clean-up of the lake.
