Sunday Snow Delays Monday Classes

Morris School District and Morris Plains School District delay opening to give crews time to clear the roads.

The snow, sleet and freezing rain that moved into the area last night has pushed off the start of school for students in the Morris Plains and Morris School District, according to officials.

The Morris Plains School District will all open on a 90-minute delay while the Morris School District has a two-hour delayed opening.

Sunday night, Jeff Paul of the Morris County Office of Emergency Management said that the office was active in combatting the slippery conditions and would continue to monitor the situation throughout the night.

"We already have our road crews out and we will remain activated throughout the weather event," Paul said.

Paul said the area forecast could include freezing rain falling between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. but much of that depends on the elevation.

"An additional inch of slush will also be possible overnight as well due to sleet," Paul said.
