School Construction Projects on Schedule

Includes two new H.S. science labs, bathrooms.

Superintendent Thomas Ficarra said on Monday work continues on schedule on several construction projects underway in the Morris School District.

These include the construction of two new science labs and two new bathrooms at Morristown High School, as well as new roofs at Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton elementary schools.

"The heat has made things slow going," he said, especially noting extreme temperatures on hot tar-filled rooftop projects. "We've really been pushing the company. We're just about on schedule. We'd like to be ahead of schedule.

"Hopefully, the weather will cooperate," Ficarra said.

Facilities repairs were included in the , approved by voters earlier this year. These include $1,032,700 for new windows at Hillcrest Elementary School; $833,238 for the new roof at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School; and $738,750 for the two new science labs at Morristown High School.
