College of Saint Elizabeth Sponsors 5K Race/Walk

MORRISTOWN, N.J., March 9, 2012 –The College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE), 2 Convent Road, Morristown, N.J., is sponsoring a 5K race/walk on Saturday, April 14, 2012, rain or shine, as the closing event of the College’s 2012 Wellness Week. Walkers and runners are invited for a day filled with prizes, entertainment and refreshments. The course, which winds through the beautifully landscaped CSE campus, is certified by USA Track and Field, the national organization governing track and field, running and race walking.

            Entry fees are as follows: 5K runners before April 1, $20; runners after April 1 and on race day, $25; walkers and students with valid student identification, $10. Entrants can register online at www.compuscore.com or by mail to Amy Mueller, Human and Social Development Area, College of Saint Elizabeth, 2 Convent Road Morristown N.J. 07960. Checks should be made payable to CSE Wellness Week.

            “The College of Saint Elizabeth is hosting this event as an outreach to our neighbors,” says Dr. Patricia Heindel, CSE chair for the human and social development area and one of the race’s organizers. “The race/walk is the closing event for the CSE Wellness Week, which focuses on raising awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.”

            The day will begin with registration at 8 a.m. followed by the 5K race/walk at 9:30 a.m. and concludes with an award ceremony in front of Saint Joseph’s Hall. Cash prizes and certificates will be distributed to the top three places in accordance to gender and age group. In addition, complimentary gift bags, custom T-shirts, live band and post race refreshments will be available to all participants.

Sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, N.J., the College of Saint Elizabeth enrolls more than 2,100 full- and part-time students in more than 25 undergraduate, 10 graduate, and one doctoral degree programs.
