Colonial Challenge 5K Walk/Run

The Morris Educational Foundation will hold its 2nd annual Colonial Challenge, a 5K Run/Walk & Health Fair at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3, at Ginty Field in Morris Township.  The event is expected to attract approximately 500 runners, walkers and visitors of all ages.

"We are thrilled to once again offer the opportunity for our community to come together to share a day of fun, health and wellness and, in so doing, support our schools and our children," said Phil Sibona, MEF Board Member and Chairman of the Colonial Challenge event.  "The Morris Educational Foundation is an integral part of the Morris School District." The Colonial Challenge reflects the Morris School District's focus on fitness and healthy lifestyles for its students."  The event will also feature a health fair hosting local health organizations and providers, engaging visitors with demonstrations and interactive activities.

The Foundation has challenged the community to come out and support the event by creating fun incentive programs and challenges for all the schools in the Morris School District.   Several local corporations and organizations are supporting the challenge as sponsors including WABC TV; Huntington Learning Center; Wiley, Malehorn, Sirota & Raynes; Warner Chilcott; Wells Fargo; Jersey Boy Bagels; Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey; Lanca Sales; Paladin Realty Partners and others.  Medals will be awarded to the top finishers overall and in ten year age groups.  There will be random drawings for great prizes.  Participants can register on-line at therunningcompany.net.  A kids mile run/walk will take place at 10:45 am.
