Morristown HS Alum Honored by Patriot League

He was chosen for the Outstanding Leadership and Character Award.

The Patriot League picked Michael Colvin of Lehigh as its Outstanding Leadership and Character Award winner for the 2012-2013 academic year, according to MHS Football Boosters on July 21. Mike is an Morristown High School alumni.

The Patriot League established the Award of Leadership and Character to recognize and honor those who demonstrate excellence in leadership and service while participating in Patriot League athletics. Lehigh student-athletes claimed the honor for a second year in a row.

Colvin shined in his chance as the starter last year when he led Lehigh to a 10-1 record while completing 227-of-396 passes for 3,108 yards with 19 touchdowns and rushing for 479 yards and 11 scores in his senior season. Colvin helped the Mountain Hawks finish among the top 20 teams in the FCS and was among the national leaders in total offense, according to MHS Football Boosters.

Mike led the Mountain Hawks to the playoffs for two straight seasons.

“Colvin continued the trend and emerged as a truly dependable team leader and captain. He worked all summer long to get bigger, stronger, faster and more precise in his technique. He ended up as a second-team All-Patriot League selection and earned the MVP award after the Lehigh-Lafayette football game, which he played in with a broken hand (unbeknownst to his teammates and fans). Colvin also won the top department leadership award which recognizes character, scholarship and leadership effectiveness,” said Lehigh’s press release.
