Morristown Native Hopes to Make Roster for Red Bulls in 2014

Connor Lade is using the preseason to practice in different positions on the pitch.

Morristown’s Connor Lade is living a dream, playing for a Major League Soccer team near his hometown.

But at age 24, playing time has been hard to come by, as he competes with Red Bull teammates who originate from overseas or have been brought in from other MLS teams, dailyrecord.com reported.

As the preseason rolls along, Lade is being worked at other positions, not just his usual center back defensive spot.

Lade told the newspaper he’s just looking to make the final 11 spots on the roster. The Morristown native signed with the local team out of St. John’s University in 2011.

The Red Bulls open the season on the road in Vancouver on Saturday night.
