Morristown Little League to Host Food Drive

The food drive will benefit the Interfaith Food Pantry. The drive will be this Saturday to coincide with the league's opening day

This Saturday marks the Morristown National Little League opening day. The league is tying in a few charitable events: they're collecting new or “gently used” baseball and softball equipment for the Roberto’s Kids Organization.

They also plan to hold a food drive from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. to benefit the Interfaith Food Pantry, a nonprofit organization that helps families make ends meet by supplementing their monthly groceries in times of need.  

Collection tables will be set up at Burnham Park near the snack stand. Here’s a look at donated items they’re looking for:

  • Prepared Spaghetti Sauce, Canned Tomatoes & Puree, Pasta, White & Brown Rice -1 or 2 Lb. Bags or Boxes;
  • Side Dishes (Hamburger Helper®, Rice-A-Roni®, Instant Potatoes, Mac & Cheese);
  • Powdered Milk, Parmalat® & Evaporated Milk, Healthy Breakfast Cereal, Oatmeal & Pancake Mix;
  • Meats and Meals such as: Canned Chicken, Stew, Ravioli, Corned Beef, Hash,
  • Peanut Butter, Jelly, Tuna & other canned fish like Salmon, Sardines;
  • Soup – especially low salt and hearty types, Diapers, especially 4,5 & 6 and large, Pull Ups and Wipes;
  • Baby Food and Cereal, Baby Formula, Canned Fruit (lite, no-sugar added), 100% Juice (bottles, juice packs, etc.);
  • Dry Beans; canned baked, black, kidney, pinto, white;
  • Laundry Detergent (regular size), Ensure, Glucerna, Gluten free pastas and crackers.

Monetary donations will also be accepted.  Cash will be collected or checks can be made payable to The Interfaith Food Pantry.
