Convent Station Students Bake for a Cause

The kindergarteners at The Montessori Children's Academy learn about giving back.

You're never too young to learn how to be generous and giving. 

The kindergarteners at The Montessori Children’s Academy of Convent Station held their annual bake sale on April 17 and 18 and donated the proceeds to the charity of their choice. 

"The charity they selected is St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center," said Kathi L. Donner, director of The Montessori Children's Academy. "Kindergarten students and their parents prepared the baked goods, created posters publicizing the event, sold the products, tallied the profits, and researched and selected the charity.

In total, the students raised $350. Ellen Goldberg, education director of St. Hubert’s, brought her rescue dog Lucy to meet the children when she accepted their check for the organization.

The Montessori Children’s Academy opened its doors in Madison more than a decade ago. Since that time, it has grown to a school with three campuses, serving more than 450 families and offering programs for children from 2 1/2 years of age through 6th grade.
