Superheroes' Special Power: Running for Charity

Hosted by Liquid Church, 5K proceeds benefitted international clean water projects.

Superman, Batman and plenty of other superheroes crossed the finish line for a charity 5K on Saturday.

Liquid Church in NJ hosted a charity fundraiser in Morristown that included a 5k fun run, Superhero costume contest, and afternoon party at Pioneer Park to benefit clean water projects in Africa and Central America.

"We are so excited that over 1,300 participants were able to come together for the Super Hero 5K," said Kenny Jahng, media & innovation pastor. "Because of them, we have been able to raise over $100,000 for clean water projects.  And our amazing volunteers that that helped—months of hard work and planning for this event by hundreds of volunteers made it all happen.  We love our Liquid Church volunteers."

Volunteers from the church travel each quarter to remote villages in El Salvador, Haiti and, starting this year, Nicaragua.  More than $750,000 has been raised to date by the church to solve water access issues in developing countries.

“This event celebrates the fact that each of us has the power to save a life.  You can be a hero by simply coming out to run or walk and join the fight against Dirty Water,” said Lucas.
