Christmas Eve Services In Morristown

Midnight masses and some earlier-than-midnight masses in Morristown.

Christmas Eve celebrations are coming Tuesday night and we’ve assembled a few for you to choose from in the Morristown area.

The Presbyterian Church on the Green, located at 57 East Park Place has a slate of activities beginning at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

  • 4:00 p.m.  The children’s choirs lead an informal, interactive candlelight service presenting the Christmas Story, ideal for children, families and the young at heart. Directed by Julie Ramseyer and Alexandra Mead
  • 7:00 p.m.  Rev. Dr. David Smazik leads a candlelight service of Nine Lessons and Carols with readings that present the Christmas story from Genesis through Luke.  Carols, choral and instrumental music is provided by the Ringers-on-the-Green (ROGS), Chancel ChoirCantate OmnesCantus and a brass quartet. Pre-service music is provided by the Ringers-on-the-Green and organist Ryan Kennedy. Music directed by Matt Webb.
  • 11:00 p.m. This service follows the same format as the 7 p.m. service with two added features. The former Ringers-on-the-Green join the ROGS for the prelude, and the service closes at midnight with the traditional ringing in of Christmas Day by the ROGS. Music directed by Matt Webb.

At St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, located 70 Maple Avenue there is a prelude ceremony from 10:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. followed by a Holy Communion Christmas Even celebration from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

The Assumption Church, located at 91 Maple Avenue will be celebrating a Vigil Mass of Christmas at 5:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.  

The Church of the Redeemer, located at 36 South Street has Christmas Eve services scheduled from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
