'Every Town is Newtown' Vigil Highlights Week Ahead

On anniversary of shootings, event at Redeemer Church will honor victims, advocate gun control.

On Dec. 14 a group of concerned citizens will gather at Church of the Redeemer in Morristown to commemorate the lives lost to gun violence at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut one year ago, and to renew their commitment to preventing such acts.

"The event will begin with a vigil to honor the victims of the shooting, and will be followed by speakers such as Tremaine and Phillip Guzman, parents who have lost a son to gun violence, and Assemblyman John F. McKeon," said Tom Duffy, one of the event organizers.

Every Town is Newtown will be open to the public. Those who support gun control initiatives or wish to honor lives lost to gun violence in Newtown or elsewhere are encouraged to attend, Duffy said.

The Church of the Redeemer is a Christian Liberation Community in the Episcopal tradition. The Church is located on South Street in Morristown.
