Winter Solstice Festival Highlights Week Ahead

Fourth annual event hosted by Grow it Green Morristown this weekend at the Early Street Community Garden.

Need a break from all the holiday hubbub? Put on your warm woolies and join Grow It Green Morristown at the Early Street Community Garden in Morristown on Saturday at 5 p.m. for a Winter Solstice Celebration.

Many communities celebrate the Winter Solstice, the day when the sun reaches its southernmost point in the sky. In more Northern locales, celebrations can be quite dramatic with activities that include building huge bonfires and burning “Old Man Winter” in effigy. Grow it Green Morristown is embracing the Winter Solstice Celebration as a way of getting the community back into the garden to enjoy a bit of the longest winter night together. Grow it Green's Solstice Celebration offers an opportunity for everyone, from young families to senior citizens, to relax and enjoy some time in the garden while participating in fun activities that help you reflect on the past year and set your intentions for the year ahead.

Those attending the fourth annual event are invited to jot down regrets onto a piece of paper and toss them into the fire. So, if you’re craving an hour to relax and reconnect in a meaningful way, away from the frenetic fluorescence of the mall, consider attending Grow it Green's Winter Solstice Celebration, which is free and open to the public.
