De-Stress For a Cause in Morristown

Wellness: Motown brings a plethora of free wellness options to the Morristown Green Oct 6.

Spend a fall Sunday on the Green, participate in a slew of wellness activities and help make money for some worthy causes. That is the goal behind Wellness: Mo-Town, a free public event that will bring together over a hundred health and wellness providers and non-profit organizations in the areas of traditional medicine, nutrition, fitness, acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic, yoga, and environmental and social wellness.

All proceeds, donations, and money raised during/for this event will be donated to Sustainable Morristown; whose mission is to ensure the economic, environmental and social well-being of Morristown residents and future generations.

The second benefactor is Yogis Heart; a volunteer organization devoted to providing yearly unlimited yoga scholarships to young adults between the ages of fifteen through twenty-five who are seeking a consistent yoga practice.

The event will feature a variety free health screenings, spa and wellness treatments, eco-friendly vendors, fitness demos, music, activities, and a full day of free yoga classes on the Morristown Green.

12:10 p.m. - 12:55 p.m. (KIDS) with Ruth Meagher
1:00 p.m. - 1:55 p.m. with Jessie Shapiro of Powerflow Yoga
2:00 p.m. - 2:55 p.m. with Karin Stoetzer of Be Well.
3:00 p.m. - 3:55 p.m. with Omni Kitts Ferrara of Yoga Morristown

In addition to local area health providers and wellness organizations, the fair will feature healthy food vendors. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction for dozens of prizes from health providers, wellness facilities, fitness studios, gyms, and spas.

“There will be tables and tents set up from the many health and wellness businesses/non-profits/groups in the area, healthy food vendors, live music, and a Bike Valet that will be run by Bike Walk Morristown,” said Marisa Sweeney, co-coordinator. “We are anticipating a rather large turn out.”

According to Sweeney, Wellness: Mo-Town is hoping to be a green event and those who participate in the bike valet are asked to donate $1. This $1 if good for a ticket for a chance to win a “huge basket of awesomeness from Whole Foods" in Madison.
