Requiem for the Living - a new work with a fresh perspective debuts in NJ

Last year, The Presbyterian Church in Morristown (PCM) presented Mozart's Requiem during Lent. This year, on Sunday, April 13 at 3 pm, we bring to Morristown a more uplifting version, Requiem for the Living, a new work by American composer Dan Forrest. Published in mid-2013, Requiem for the Living offers a fresh and inspiring perspective on life, love, loss and renewal. Quickly becoming Forrest's best-known and much-acclaimed work, this "Requiem" has already been performed across the U.S. and multiple times at Carnegie Hall. This Sunday's performance in Morristown will be its debut in New Jersey. PCM's Chancel Choir, accompanied by Chamber Orchestra featuring strings, flute, horn and oboe, harp, organ and percussion, is conducted by Matthew Webb, Director of Music at The Presbyterian Church in Morristown. The event is free and open to the public and located at the Church on the Green, 57 East Park Place, Morristown. 

The concert this Sunday is part of PCM's Music on the Green series from October-May. The final concert in this series is Cello and Piano with Marnie and Richard Kaller at noon on Friday, May 9. Lunch is available after the performance for $7, catered by a local Morristown restaurant. Additional musical offerings this spring are an organ recital by Ryan Kennedy on May 18 at 2 pm and an annual favorite, the Ringer's-on-the-Green concert by PCM's high school bell choir on June 22 at 4 pm. This year's concert features selections by Cantus, the PCM high school vocal ensemble.
