Sustainable Sunday Supper Stars This Weekend
Annual event in its third year offers 'something for everyone.'
For the third time in as many years Sustainable Morristown and the Daily Record are hosting a Locally Grown Sunday Supper on Sept. 22 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hyatt Morristown.
The event features a night of farm-to-table tastings from local gourmet chefs and farms. In addition to the gourmet tasting, there will be a silent auction, open bar, and live music. Sponsored by The Highlands Dinner Club, Hyatt Morristown, and Kings Food Market, the dinner is the fifth edition of the Morris County Sunday Supper Series.
Paul Miller, Vice President of the Board of Trustees of Sustainable Morristown said that the event is a “quite an undertaking,” as a lot happens during the course of the night.

“Certainly there are plenty of dinners out there, but we felt we could have one that had mission impact,” Miller said. “And we wanted to highlight people who are already doing showcasing of local sourcing.”
Miller said that in addition to the food, there will be an awards presentation at 6 p.m.

“Giving out the awards allows us to give out recognition to different organizations, groups and people in the community,” Miller said.
Miller said the event is set up in a tasting format, allowing guests to move from station to station where they will meet with the farmers and the chefs that provided the meal.
“There will be a mix of foodies who are there for the food and others who are there because they support the cause,” Miller said. “People, planet and prosperity.”
According to Miller the produce and taken from the surrounding farms is used creatively and there is no repetition in the menu, and that includes vegetarian and vegan options.“There really is something for everyone,” Miller said.
