Kristin Barber-Furlong to star in "Proof" at WCP

Kristin Barber-Furlong to star in "Proof" as Westfield Community Players

(Westfield, NJ – Feb. 21, 2013 ) Kristin Barber-Furlong of Morris Plains, NJ will be starring in Westfield Community Players (WCP) production of David Auburn's 2001 Pulitzer Prize and 2001 Drama Critic's Award winning play, Proof. Show dates are March 2, 9, 16, 22 & 23 at 8:00pm; a matinee performance will be on Sunday, March 10 at 3pm.

Ms. Barber-Furlong will be making her WCP debut with the performance as Claire, the estranged sister of Catherine, who on the eve of her twenty-fifth birthday is a troubled young woman, who has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a famous mathematician. Now, following his death, she must deal with her own volatile emotions; the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire; and the attentions of Hal, a former student of her father's who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks that her father left behind. Over the long weekend that follows, a burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: How much of her father's madness-or genius-will she inherit?

Ms. Barber-Furlong has previously performed for Summit Playhouse in Summit, NJ in The Children's Hour as Karen; for Chatham Playhouse in Proof as Claire, and Jersey Voices for Chatham.  She has also appeared at Playhouse 22 in Bareforot in the Park as Corie, Nutley Little Theater in Steel Magnolias as Shelby, and Circle Players in Extremities as Terry.

Proof is being directed by Steve Lemenille, of Clark, NJ and produced by Sally Brown of Westfield, NJ. Mr. Lemenille has previously directed “Dial 'M' for Murder”, “A View from the Bridge” and “Squabbles” for Westfield Community Players.
