I ordered a filet, medium rare. It arrived and was clearly medium. Inexcusable for ANY steakhouse.

We had an expensive dinner at Roots last night. The popover was not fresh and my steak was overdone. Mgr. asked about the steak & I showed him he bought us a creme brulee & 2 cappachinos for dessert which were outstanding. Unfortunately I have had terrible indigestin since 1:00 AM last night & throughout today.

Had lunch at Roots in Morristown = We shared Shrimp Cocktail Waiter was kind enough to ask if we wanted an extra shrimp so we 'd get 2 each. They were huge and delicious. They need to get their act together a little, as they didn't give us a plate to eat off of so we just put the one plate in the middle and shared. The popovers are a great idea, but were obviously reheated not made fresh. We ate at the Roots in Summit last week and those popovers were much better. As a matter of fact we got a 2nd popover and it was very well done on the outside and cold on the inside so I'm pretty positive they reheat them rather than make them fresh. The Waiter was a little hard to get his attn but they do a pretty busy lunch. My friend ordered the $39 Dry Aged Kansas City Steak, I took a piece and it was absolutely the best best delicious steak! Better than Ruth and better than Sammy's. I had the Tuna Salad from the lunch menu and it was a very large salad and delicious rare tuna. I saw a wedge of salad w/the blue cheese go by..and we both commented on how delicious it looked. Cosmo Martini was good, not very strong. They have a large wine list but no martini list...oh well. It's a very pretty place, very comfortable booths, they did a really nice job with the decor. I'd give it 5 stars if they improve on those popovers..call summit see what they are doing right.
