There is no doubt when police officers are visible , it would certainly be a deterrent to crime! IRead More agree with placing NJ State Police in high crime areas, I just don't know how well they are equipped to handle crimes other than traffic stops and protection of Gov. Christie! These state police officers although very highly trained, rarely deal with domestic violence, street or bar brawls, burglaries in progress, stabbings and shootings all within an urban environment. I am not trying to demean The NJ State Police but just stating the fact that they lack the experience that an urban police officer has!
Mr. Happy April 23, 2014 at 03:32 pm
Hi Linda - when the State Police are tasked to one of the cities (Newark, Trenton, Camden,Read More Irvington), they go in as a pro-active force, not re-active; that is to say, they won't be engaging in the response to domestics, bar brawls, etc. The mission is to initiate criminal investigations thru contact with potential violators in high crime areas. It works, at least in the short term.
Linda Maloney April 23, 2014 at 05:33 pm
Thanks@Mr.Happy I wasn't quite sure what role they would play! Agree with you, it would workRead More temporarily!

Eric Rudolph was a racist, anti-semetic, militant, twisted religious zealout, murdering psycopath,Read More not a "right wing fanatic." He was absent political bent.

Speedy trial? Define speedy. Charles Manson and company committed the Tate/LaBianca murders inRead More 1969. The trial wasn’t until two years later. It took over a year before Jack Ruby went on trial for shooting Oswald. And the entire nation saw him do that on TV. The infamous Boston Strangler was caught in early 1964 but wasn’t sentenced until 1967. Its only on Law & Order that it goes from commission of the crime to sentencing in an hour.

Look, it's pretty simple. This "test" facility doesn't belong in a densely populated areaRead More period! Several years ago, a test round crashed through a roof of a neighboring home and killed a family pet just missing a child. This facility should be closed, saving the taxpayers a ton of money, or moved to Arizona, Nevada, or Utah, they love this kind of stuff!

Drugs are on the way! If demand is there, and we know it is, supply will follow. It'sRead More Microeconomics 101, even a "caveman" can understand!
Not Domino April 15, 2014 at 01:50 pm
Sad but true, Clay. With these guys behind bars, others will move in to fill the gap. Where there isRead More big easy money to be made, someone will try to make it. Remove the demand, and the supply will fade away. That's the only way to make a long term change.
Barbara Cohen April 16, 2014 at 09:27 am
In any town or city with clubs, bars and restaurants, there may be people who drink too much. ThisRead More most likely occurs late at night and as Michael said, maybe you should take your family walks earlier in the day or evening.

I see the self-esteem police have taken over the Patch, just as they have taken over publicRead More education. This bank-robbing loser was put in the Morris County "Correctional Facility." We can't say "jail" any more? Bad for inmates' self-esteem? Just like in school where the standards are lowered so everyone gets on the honor roll and the national honor society, every athlete gets a trophy, and no one takes a "test." Now it's an "assessment." "Correctional facility"....what bu****it!!!

How about crimes against the environment and working people. How about the legal chicanery of theRead More Supreme Court; corporations are people? How about the crime of being above the law or changing the law to legalize misconduct and policy of criminal actions by our leaders? We are all becoming victims of an uncaring unjust system that puts individual rights of property and corporate greed above the people and the future of life here on Earth.
Geoff Cabral April 4, 2014 at 09:41 am
Isn't it about time that banks locate their cameras 6' off the floor and closer to the faces ofRead More their "customers"? I realize that we are all using funny money, so the Fed will just "print" more, but someone could get hurt or killed during these bank robberies. Also, if Patch would like us to try to ID these perps, couldn't they allow their page be zoomed-in by the viewer? /end rant
Jim Copeland April 4, 2014 at 01:06 pm
Well, If you are going to rob someplace it might as well be a Bank----Thats where they have the mostRead More money on hand! Down here in FLA these boneheads are always robbing the 7/11s they get a grand haul of a few hundred dollars and the cashiers Casio wrist watch. There is a driver and two thugs 100 bucks each and not to bright. JC
