A newly-filed claim against Morristown's zoning officer paints a more detailed picture about what his accuser says has been a pattern of harassment over several years. Town's annual reorganization meeting was held on Tuesday.
In a non-election year, much of Tuesday night’s Morristown reorganization was routine, with board appointments and responsibilities for council members remaining mostly as they were in 2012. Five volunteer firefighters were sworn in, as is the annual custom. With no objections from the other council members in attendance—councilman Kevin Gsell did not arrive until during the regular Town Council meeting—Michelle Dupree Harris was again named council president and Rebecca Feldman was again named council vice president. 2013 will be the pair’s second year’s serving in those roles. One council member, however, was noticeably absent: longtime member Anthony Cattano Jr., who died in September. “It was a sad year,” noted Town Clerk Matt …

The following is the provided transcript of Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty's annual address, read during the town reorganization meeting, held Tuesday at Town Hall: Good evening. I wish everyone a very healthy and prosperous 2013. I am very optimistic that we will have a good year. To reflect on 2012, I was reminded, once again, of the vitality and vibrancy of the Town of Morristown. Significant private financial investment continued as dozens of new businesses opened, expanded and announced their future intentions to call downtown Morristown home. New redevelopment projects have also been proposed and we have continued to receive glowing praise throughout New Jersey as a model of smart growth. Even Snooki and J Wow wanted to be part of …

The first, Olivia Graciela Heyman, of Budd Lake was born at 6:04 a.m.
Oh, baby! Babies. Six, in fact. It wouldn't be a New Year without some New Years babies to welcome 2013 into the world. Morristown Medical Center did not have its first birth until the year was six hours and four minutes old (practically ancient!). But, Olivia Graciela Heyman—daughter of Brett and Carolina Heyman of Budd Lake—has the proud honor of being the first baby at our hospital in 2013. Weighing in at seven pounds, two ounces, little Olivia and parents are all doing well. Five others followed on Tuesday, at 6:17 a.m. (so close!), 10:39 a.m., 2:58 p.m., 4:43 p.m. and the final New Years baby squeaking by with barely any time to spare, at 11:48 p.m.

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money. As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Morristown to make it an even better place to live? New businesses in town have always been on the top of people's lists for ways to improve Morristown. Whether it's just filling an empty storefront or diversifying the dining options, what would you like to see improve on this front in 2013? In early 2012, the Speedwell Redevelopment Plan was finally approved, after years and years of talks, plans, approvals and …
