Big Brew Beer Festival Offers Apology, Refunds

Organizer says 'long and cold line delays' kept some paying customers from attending inaugural event.

The organizer of Saturday's Big Brew Beer Festival at the National Guard Armory in Morristown has posted an apology for "long and cold line delays" that kept some paying customers from attending the inaugural event. Allison Kohler, the second generation owner of JMK Shows and Events, said Tuesday a "technological nightmare" involving malfunctioning ticket-scanning equipment caused major delays at the entrance on Saturday evening. There also was a shortage of restrooms and inadequate communication to those waiting outside, JMK wrote in a message posted on the event website. Brouhaha for Big Brew Beer Fest at Armory

Crowds wait to get into beer, food, music festival in Morristown.

The National Guard Armory in Morristown was the site of The Big Brew Beer Festival Saturday evening.  The sold-out event included beers from around the country, many from New Jersey, food and other vendors. The band The Nerds performed as part of the event. As the event went on, many of the attendees, stuck outside waiting to check in, expressed concern over being able to get in at all. With tickets already purchased, many waited two hours to get into the event.

The beauty of a charge back is that it has to be the full amount. The debacle with the scanners SHOULD have led them to admit everyone who was waiting in the freezing cold, and then go around and collect the tickets inside (and scan or manually enter at a later date). Clearly, since it WAS freezing cold, and the event was SOLD OUT, only ticket-holders were waiting on line.   more ›
