A Morris Township man is facing charges of driving while intoxicated and more following a reported hit-and-run accident near Frederick Place March 16, according to a Morris Township Police Department statement. Capt. Richard Ferrone said officers went to a Frederick Place residence to document a hit-and-run collision and found the person who had made the call, 44-year-old Henri Linden, intoxicated. Linden told officers that his vehicle was the victim of a hit-and-run collision in Morristown, the statement said. A 22-year-old man who was allegedly drunk when he struck a pickup truck and fled the scene was arrested after the truck's owner followed him to his Morris Township home, police said. Ryan Barnett, of Sussex Avenue, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident shortly after 2 a.m. on Dec. 23. A Washington Avenue resident was nearly three times over the legal limit when she was pulled over for driving without headlights on early Thursday morning, Morristown Police said. Jessica Stender, 25, of Morristown, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, driving without headlights and careless driving at about 2 a.m. According to a report filed by Officer James Krauss, a vehicle was observed driving without its lights on in the area of Morris Street near Spring Street. 'Drunk Driving Enforcement' program participation set for 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
As if you already didn't have plenty of reasons not to drink and drive, the Morristown Police Department would like to offer one more. From 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, Morristown officers will be conducting sobriety checkpoints throughout town as part of the national "Drunk Driving Enforcement" program to stop drunk driving. Through the use of a grant provided by the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, officers will be assigned to roving patrols and sobriety checkpoints in order to identify and arrest motorists who are driving while intoxicated, according to a press release. A Morristown man was nearly twice the legal limit when he struck a parked car and fled the scene Saturday evening, police said. Jose Rosales, 31, of Speedwell Avenue, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, being an unlicensed driver, having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, failure to exhibit an insurance card, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. A West Orange resident was allegedly drunk when she drove the wrong way around the Green before turning the wrong way down Market Street, Morristown Police said. Stephanie Scagliozzi, 28, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, driving the wrong way on a one-way street and failure to produce proof of insurance. Police say a Montville man pulled over for suspected driving while intoxicated had a Blood Alcohol Content triple the legal limit allowed in New Jersey. Glen Gambal, 43, of Montville, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and failure to maintain a lane at 1:30 a.m. on June 21. Officer Adam Khoudja, in his report, noted Gambal's Audi SUV was unable to maintain a lane on Morris Street, even occasionally drifting over the double-yellow lines separating traffic direction. Morristown police say a Morris Township resident was arrested after his vehicle hit a road safety sign and he was found with an open can of beer. Eliijah Pettiway, 63, of Livingston Road in Morris Township, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and having an open alcoholic beverage at 6:59 p.m. on May 4. Officer Deanna Dietrich was parked on Clyde Potts Drive when she observed Pettiway drive past, cross over the double-yellow lines and strike the "Yield to Pedestrians" sign, according to her report. But, when police told George Fahme, 25, of Brooklyn, NY, they were going to add a charge of refusal to submit to a breath test to an already extensive list of charges, he told them he would "do it right this time," police said.
