UPDATE: Early Street Reopened After Reported Gas Leak
Police reported gas leak, heavy traffic Monday afternoon.
A portion of Early Street between Speedwell Avenue and Atno Avenue was reopened after PSE&G repaired a reported gas leak. Morristown Police issued a note via the Nixle.com alert service of the reopening shortly before 4 p.m. The closure alert came shortly before 3 p.m., noting it could be several hours before the road was reopened. Work began recently on Early Street in that area as part of Phase I of the Speedwell Redevelopment Plan. Several houses along Early Street have been blocked off, with demolition expected within the next couple weeks. No indication was given whether or not the reported gas leak occurred at the demolition site.
