A hospital stay is not easy for most of us. But, Morristown resident Alexa DiNorscio hoped to make it just a little more comfortable when she delivered cookies to The Cancer Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center as part of her recent bat mitzvah project. The press release is below. As part of Alexa DiNorscio's bat mitzvah project, she invited a few close friends to bake hundreds of cookies at a Supreme Bakery, South Orange. The Morristown resident then delivered the cookies to The Cancer Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center for distribution in their waiting rooms for patients and their families going through treatment. Children's play center, donated to Goryeb Children's Hospital by Companions in Courage foundation and "Frozen Flashback" hockey event, officially opened on Thursday.
Eleven-year-old David Hodges has been in pain his entire life. Born with diseased kidneys and osteoporosis, the Ramsey resident currently receives blood tests on a monthly basis. His mother, Carol, said that may need to be increased to twice a month. She said her son is a worrier, which is understandable considering his circumstances. But, when he comes to the new Lion's Den playroom at the Goryeb Children's Hospital, "he hasn't complained once," she said. The new playroom at the hospital, which celebrates its 10th anniversary at Morristown Medical Center, was donated by proceeds from the "Frozen Flashback" hockey game–played in April 2010–and the Companions in Courage foundation, created by NHL Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine.
