This past February, local students showed off their skills in the sixth annual Morristown's Got Talent competition as part of a fundraiser for the Morris Educational Foundation. This and other fundraisers make it possible for the MEF to give back to the district through cultural arts programs, scholarships and more. Seven students in the Morristown High School Science Academy applied for and will receive funding from the Morris Educational Foundation.
Over 20 years, the Morris Educational Foundation has received grant applications for many programs from many people within the Morris School District. Recently, they received what at least one MEF member considers the best grant applications ever. That's some accomplishment, considering they were from seven Morristown High School students. And on Friday morning, MEF and Board of Education member Ann Rhines stopped by the high school's Science Academy to present acceptance letters to those students, the first-ever student grant applicants in the district. Annual Morris Educational Foundation fundraiser set for Feb. 27, 2013 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.
The envelope, please. Nearly 100 performers turned out this month to vie for a spot in the sixth-annual Morristown's Got Talent—the annual fundraiser for the Morris Educational Foundation. But, only a select few would be able to move on to the big show on Feb. 27 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center. On Friday, 16 finalists were named to compete for the top prize of $1,000, as well as for the admiration and praise of the regularly-sold out event. A press event for the 16 performers is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 5 at Morristown High School.
