Council agrees to continue meeting on June 13, after marathon meeting brings many out in favor of Early Street restaurant/bar.
On multiple occasions during the more than three-hour Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission hearing on Wednesday, race was brought up and whether it may be an issue concerning a liquor license transfer request for 4 Early St. Everyone that spoke during the meeting said it wasn't. But, that did not stop dozens of the people who packed council chambers in favor of approving the Futbolandia #2 liquor license from wearing orange wristbands with the words "Futbol-Landia 4 EQUALITY." Regardless, after a hearing with property owner William Walsh and his lawyer–and dozens of public commenters, mostly in favor of the transfer and renovated restaurant it would be attached to–the Town Council (acting as the ABC Commission in Morristown) voted to …

Throughout the team's 27 years, the Morristown High School girls' soccer team was led by one coach. Well, theoretically–John Furphey and his wife, Jen, were co-coaches. But this fall, a new face will lead the girls' soccer program. Hired in June, Clifton native John Babula is the team's second-ever coach. Despite his young age, Babula, 32, is a soccer lifer. Babula's been the team's junior varsity coach the past five seasons and trains several youth teams in the area. He played college soccer at Monmouth University and prepped at Clifton High School. The Colonials begin the regular season at home against Mountain Lakes on Sept.10. Morristown went 9-8-2 last season. The preseason gets going Sunday and Babula expects a great turnout for …

Is Connor by any chance a relative of Thomas Lade. The Lades were part of neighborhood. Tom was a distinguished veteran of WWII and had lost an arm there. That didn't stop him from having the gas station next to Gold's or anything else. We played with the kids growing up. Tommy, JR, I think, told us that his father always told them that his arm was in the closet and he was going to get it out and…   more ›
