Homeless man allegedly attacked another man over repayment of a loan, according to police.
A homeless man slashed another individual over the repayment of a $20 loan, police said. Morristown Police are searching for a man who, according to a police report filed by Officer Brian McDonnell, went to the Community Soup Kitchen shortly after noon on Monday, allegedly intoxicated and confronted a friend he had loaned $20 to a couple weeks before. When that man said he didn't have the money, the other allegedly pulled out a pocket knife, pushed it against the other's left side and said he was going to "stick him" if he didn't get his money back, according to the report. The two men then walked outside and the alleged victim hit the man with a knife in the head, prompting the suspect to slash him across the arm and run off, according to…

Terry Connolly wants people to know sustainability isn't just about buying from your local farmer. Though that's important, the Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center Executive Director wants people to know sustainability is much more than just that. It's her organization, for example. That is why CSK is one of several new participants in the Morris County Sunday Supper Series' fourth edition, to be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 23 at Hyatt Morristown. Sponsored by Hyatt Morristown and the Highlands Dinner Club and benefitting Sustainable Morristown, the tasting event started a year ago will focus its attentions this time on local food sources, from the farmer to the person who prepared what the farmer grows. The event's title, …

Do you or someone you know own a food service business that is looking to take what may be extra quantities of food and donate them to feed the less-fortunate? Then, the Community Soup Kitchen would like to hear from you. The organization recently launched its "Kitchen-to-Kitchen" program, which pairs up those businesses with the CSK, which has served lunch every day straight for over 10,000 days. The press release is below: Take a local Soup Kitchen that has always found a way to feed the hungry, 365 days a year, never missing a day in over 10,000 days. Then add the challenge of complying with Board of Health regulations that volunteers can no longer prepare food at home. Add a dash of creativity and a pinch of determination. Mix with a …

Community Soup Kitchen is a finalist in Toyota's "100 Cars for a Good" program.
The Community Soup Kitchen has not missed a day of service in 26 years. Providing 300 meals a day to those who need them, including a growing number of working poor in the Morristown area, the organization serves up its fare in all seasons and under all conditions (including the snow storms last winter that pretty much closed down everything else), according to Marla Drury, director of development of the Community Soup Kitchen Outreach Center. The Community Soup Kitchen has an opportunity this Saturday, May 28, to win a much-needed van to pick up donations of food and supplies. Currently the organization has no vehicle for this task. The soup kitchen is one of 500 finalists in Toyota’s "100 Cars for a Good Program," which will award …
