A Morristown man and finalist in the upcoming "Morristown's Got Talent!" suffered a stroke and died Friday, nj.com reported. Charles Levy, who was competing for a chance to perform at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in the sixth annual competition and fundraiser for the Morristown Education Foundation, was a personal trainer and local musician. There was no warning before Levy collapsed while working out, according to the nj.com report. Levy was one of 16 finalists in the competition for the show, which will be held on Feb. 27.

Sixth annual amateur talent event to be held Feb. 27 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.
It's going to sell out. That was Board of Education member Ann Rhines' emphatic statement Monday when she told meeting attendees to buy their tickets to the sixth-annual Morristown's Got Talent talent show right away. Those not wanting to chance it will get their opportunity starting Friday morning, when tickets go on sale to the general public. The show begins at 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center. Sixteen performances will compete, with three winners receiving prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250, respectively. Nearly 100 acts competed in December for a place in the event. Annual Morris Educational Foundation fundraiser set for Feb. 27, 2013 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.
The envelope, please. Nearly 100 performers turned out this month to vie for a spot in the sixth-annual Morristown's Got Talent—the annual fundraiser for the Morris Educational Foundation. But, only a select few would be able to move on to the big show on Feb. 27 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center. On Friday, 16 finalists were named to compete for the top prize of $1,000, as well as for the admiration and praise of the regularly-sold out event. A press event for the 16 performers is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 5 at Morristown High School.

Stanislav Kling-Loy, playing violin, took the top prize in 2011 in annual school district fundraiser.
The man whom an NJ Transit spokeswoman Monday said made no attempt to move out of the way of an oncoming train was later identified as Stanislav Kling-Loy, who won the annual Morristown's Got Talent event with his sister in February 2011. He was 21 at the time of death, the spokeswoman said. Stanislav and his sister Junia, who was 14 at the time of the competition, performed a violin and piano duet that took first place. Stanislav played the violin. "We are saddened to hear about this tragic loss," said Debbie Sontupe, chair of the Morris Educational Foundation, which runs Morristown's Got Talent. Is it time for Morristown's Got Talent announcements already? The year goes so fast. The Morris Educational Foundation, which organizes the annual talent show, announced Thursday the sixth-annual Morristown's Got Talent will be held Feb. 27, 2013, at the Mayo Performing Arts Center. Auditions for the program, open to those who live and/or work in Morristown, Morris Township and Morris Plains will be held Dec. 15 at Morristown High School. "In addition, new this year, the MEF is opening up auditions for talented individuals to serve as our Master of Ceremonies for the evening," said Debbie Sontupe, chair of the event.
