Superheroes Run on Super Bowl Sunday

The second-annual Super Sunday 4-Miler is anticipated to draw over 1,100 runners to Morristown on Feb. 3.

It may not completely make up for all the food, booze and sedentary activity expected on Super Bowl Sunday, but it certainly doesn't hurt. Beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, downtown Morristown will be the stage for the second-annual Superhero 4-Miler run. Registration for the event can be done at the Superhero Events website or on the day of the run. Heather McDermott, manager of the Morristown Running Company and one of the lead organizer for the Sunday run noted Super Bowl Sunday is traditionally a big day for eating. "It's the second biggest next to Thanksgiving," she said. "This is a good way to burn some of those calories." Last year, the inaugural run brought 1,100 runners. Participants start off Super Bowl Sunday with a fun run in Morristown.

On a day usually reserved for filling up on tasty snacks while sitting in front of the television for the big game, some people decided to to start of their Super Bowl Sunday by making history, competing in the first ever Super Sunday 4-miler in Morristown. Runners participating started this brisk 4-mile run on Maple Street, before traveling down Route 202 to Springbrook golf course and finishing up on DeHart Street.
