Lifelong Morristown Resident Dies at 80

Patricia Barry died Oct. 7.

Patricia Gannon Barry, 80, of Morristown, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday.  Pat was the devoted wife of Michael Barry for 57 years and together they raised five children and shared the joy of 11 grandchildren.  

A lifelong resident of Morristown, Barry, was born in Morristown on Oct. 2, 1933, the daughter of  John and Lesette Gannon. She was preceded in death by her brother John and sisters Fran and Peggy, and is survived by her brother, James Gannon.

A 1951 graduate of Morristown High School, she was an avid cheerleader both as a student and later, as fan of her family’s activities. Her family was her world and she will be remembered as a beyond extraordinary mother, wife, grandmother, and friend.

Besides her loving husband, she will be deeply missed by her cherished children and their spouses: Wayne and Nancy Barry, Michael and Susan Barry, Glenn Barry, Trish Barry McElfresh and Bruce McElfresh and Stephen Barry. 

And her beloved grandchildren: Cassie Barry Savage, Brittany, Maura, Alexa, Kayla, Rachel and Kelsey Barry, Matthew and Molly McElfresh, Ava and Lisa Barry. Along with her extended family from her treasured Frederick Place.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of Christ the King, Blue Mill Rd., New Vernon, on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Rood Cemetery.

Hours of visitation at the Doyle Funeral Home, 106 Maple Ave., Morristown, NJ on Friday from 4-8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Seeing Eye http://www.seeingeye.org/.
